Volunteer

Get Involved - Democracy is not a spectator sport.

A core mission of the League of Women Voters is to create an informed and active citizenry.

You can help make that possible.

Volunteer

The LWVGP accomplishes its mission and goals through volunteer committees.

Please review the committee descriptions below, then get in touch!

Use our general Contact Us form. Or reach out to specific officers and committee leaders by going to our Leadership page or by reviewing our full, current leadership team at our Board & Committees page.

Membership Committee

Members drive everything we do. Help us sustain and grow our membership by hosting special membership events and develop ways to retain existing and attract new members.

Voter Services Commitee

This committee is core to our mission. It expands voter education, facilitates candidate forums, and increases voter participation through registration events at various locations, including naturalization ceremonies, and holds school mock elections.

Issues and Advocacy Committee

Studies a range of issues that are critical to the LWVGP and develops positions through members' consensus. Then performs education and advocacy, including meeting with legislators when necessary.
• Current Study Issue - Gun Violence Prevention

Program Committee

Coordinates monthly discussions of local, state, and national topics related to league positions. The signature event is Drinks & Dialogue, which is held on the third Wednesday of most months.

Local Government Observers (LOGO)

Our LOGO program monitors the activities, budgets, and transparency of local government entities by attending or watching meetings and reporting out on developments. Training by the LWV of Illinois is required. Review our monthly newsletter The Voter for examples of LOGO reports.
