About LWV of Greater Peoria
The League of Women Voters of Greater Peoria is the local chapter of the League of Women Voters, which also operates at the state and national levels.
The LWVGP is a nonpartisan, grassroots, all-volunteer, member-driven organization working to protect and expand voting rights and voter participation and to encourage informed and active participation in government. Any person 16 or older, regardless of gender, may join.

Nonpartisanship
The League does not support or oppose any political party or any candidate. As an organization dedicated to both voter education and advocacy, the League does take strong stances on policy issues relating to voting rights, civil rights, and other issues of importance to members and the public. Yet, we remain strictly non-partisan.
Issues & Advocacy
The League works to expand voting rights and voter participation and to influence public policy through information, education, advocacy, organizing, and litigation. Our local positions on issues, along with those of the Illinois and national Leagues, are determined by members reaching consensus after thorough and careful study. These positions guide our activities.
