Voter Services

A core mission of the League of Women Voters is to provide citizens with the resources they need to be informed and active voters in our democratic political process.

Wondering where to start?

Vote 411 is the place!
Launched by the League of Women Voters Education Fund (LWVEF) in October of 2006, VOTE411.org is a "one-stop-shop" for election related information.

It provides nonpartisan information to the public with both general and state-specific information on the following aspects of the election process

Registering to Vote
Are you registered to vote?

You can check using the Illinois State Board of Elections page.

If you are registered, you'll be provided with:
  • Your polling place location (where you go vote)
  • District information (such as your congressional/federal district, state senate and representative districts, and all the other categories that determine what you can vote for including school board, township, park district, etc.)
  • Early voting times and locations
  • Election authority information

Looking for your county's information?

Do you want to change your address, your name?

Contact your County Clerk or if you live in Peoria County or City, contact the Peoria County Election Commission.

Not registered to vote?
  • Register in person at the State of Illinois Department of Motor Vehicles. And most libraries have registrars on staff.
  • Register to vote online at: https://ova.elections.il.gov
  • Note: You can also register to vote on election day with 2 forms of ID or at any early voting facility. There is a grace period once you register, so if the next election is nearing, you might want to register when you vote.

Election Protection

If your right to vote is challenged for any reason, you are entitled to a provisional ballot. A provisional ballot allows you to vote on election day, and a poll worker will explain the steps you need to take after that to make sure your ballot is counted.

If you face any problems when voting, call 866-OUR-VOTE (866-687-8683). This number is staffed 365 days a year by the Lawyers’ Committee for Civil Rights Under Law. Additionally, there are lines for those speaking other languages:

Request a Vote By Mail Ballot
