The LWVGP accomplishes its goals through volunteer committees. Reach out to committee chairs to contribute.
Voter Services - Increases voter education, facilitates candidate forums, and increases voter registration and participation through registration at naturalization ceremonies, school mock elections, and other events.

Issues and Advocacy Committee - Studies a range of issues that are critical for LWVGP and develops positions through members' consensus. Then performs education and advocacy, including meeting with legislators when necessary.

Current Study Issue: What local or regional policies should be promoted or adopted to reduce the prevalence of homelessness and to provide assistance to the unhoused? - The current project by the Issues and Advocacy Committee. Areas of inquiry include rapid shelter capacity and innovative housing; local legislative issues such as the effects of the 2024 municipal bans on public camping; and the impacts of funding reductions with a focus on funding gaps and homelessness prevention, as well as on affordable housing and municipal rent reform.

Program Committee - Drinks & Dialogue - Coordinates monthly discussions of local, state, and national topics related to league positions. Drinks & Dialogue is held on the third Wednesday.

Local Government Observers (LOGO) - Monitors the activities, budgets, and transparency of local government entities by attending or watching meetings and reporting out on developments. Training by LWV of Illinois is required. Visit our LOGO Reports page to view the reports.

Membership - Retains and increases a diverse membership and promotes participation through membership events, hospitality activities, and communication materials.

Communication and Social Media Committee - Responsible for developing and implementing strategies to effectively communicate the mission, events, and initiatives of the LWVGP. Manages internal and external communications, oversees the website, newsletter, and press releases, and ensures a strong presence on social media platforms. The goal is to engage the community, increase visibility, and promote the League of Women Voters Greater Peoria work through clear, consistent, and compelling messaging.
